I really like how you add the hours on the days page. Really helps you keep track how much time things may take and how many hours you have in a day. 🫶🏻
Yes, I love changing up layouts every once in a while to see what works best for me! And it depends on the season of life I'm in, too. If it's a busier season, it might be helpful to have a timeline like that.
Oh yay! Love to hear it! If you have any questions or get stuck along the way, feel free to come back here to ask. I could talk bullet journaling forever!
What a fabulous resource, I'll definitely bookmark this for friends who want to get into bullet journaling. I really love how your style has evolved over time too. Mine is very similar although I'm usually on the minimalist side I have occasionally dabbled with more artistic layouts.
Oh, thank you so much for the kind words! I'm always happy to talk bullet journaling with others.
Yes, there has been a lot of evolution over the 7 years I've been doing it, but that's part of what I love about it! It can shift and change as I need it to and when I need it to.
Great intro to Bullet Journalling Cassandra, love it! I've bullet journaled for years now, starting out as the creative and soon lapsing into the simplicity of a week planner that keeps me on track and an A4 task sheet pinned on the wall, paired with a google cal and a reminder app, it all seems to work!
Thank you Sarah! I'm always interested to hear how people combine different systems in different ways to make it all work for them. Great to hear that you've created a system that fits you!
Loved this essay so much! Very useful tips, I especially loved the “what to do if you messed up a page” section because I struggle with it. The nicest part for me though was seeing how your journals changed from a few years ago to something purely functional to ✨pretty✨ This is a great reminder that if you do things long enough - you'll only get better and better at it.
Oh I'm so happy you enjoyed this post! And I'm glad I decided to include some photos of both older journals and my current notebook so you could see the progression. Using stickers and stamps and washi tape are an easy way to make it look pretty even if I don't have a lot of artistic skills!
What a great essay Cassandra. I love bullet points for simplifying my thoughts but have never come across the Bullet Journal. You can guess what is now on my wish list!
Hello Cassandra. Talk about serendipity! As life would have it, several months ago I bought this really great journal/notebook.Because it was pink and I love pink (since the early 80's, so long before Barbie-mania pink craze.) I journal daily and love finding different colour journals depending on the season and how I'm feeling. However, it had this grid pattern on it, not the normal lined that I was used to, but I decided I'd get it anyways and work with it, because it was PINK. I hadn't cracked into yet as I'm not quite finished my current journaling notebook, but it was next up. Perfect timing to have a pink one when we're heading into spring.
I never noticed it had numbers on it (until a few days ago) and I had never heard of bullet journaling (until a few days ago). And now, with your post, a) I'm seeing bullet journaling everywhere it seems and b) I realized I inadvertently bought a bullet journal AND it happens to be your preferred kind! A Leuchtturm1917 A5 Medium. HA!
I'm excited to give this a try using your well laid out directions above. Given I've got different notebooks around the house for different topics (journaling, writing ideas/notes on potential writing topics, home reno's tracking, budgeting, etc.) This sounds like a great option.
So excited about this discovery! Thanks so much. From another Canadian and fellow west coaster. Where are you located Cassandra? I'm on Southern Vancouver Island.
P.S. Another serendipitous/weird thing. I wrote in my journal the words kindred spirit last week and started playing around with what those words actually meant and was noodling over using this idea as a future post. So, my membership to Notes from a Kindred Spirit is meant to be. :)
Wow wow wow! What serendipitous timing for the phrase "kindred spirit" and the topic of this post! I'm so glad this post has helped you decide what to do with your new pink Leuchtturm! If you have any questions as you get started with bullet journaling don't be afraid to reach out or come back here and comment with your questions!
Like you said, so great to "meet" a fellow west coaster! I was born and raised in SK but have called central Vancouver Island home since the spring of 2022 and have been loving the island life! 😊
Wow, my first recommendation! Thank you so much! Like you said, it's great to find other bullet journalers here on Substack! I'm excited to read more of your posts. ☺️

I’ve been a fan of JashiiCorrin for a long time.
She makes so much great content!

Loved this overview on the bullet journal method and the little glimpses into your journals.

I enjoyed the timeline aspect too, it's a great reminder that our styles and our priorities shift over time and that BuJo can change with us
