Thank you for sharing Cassandra! Wonderful post and I felt really seen by it even though I do not have a chronic illness and I’ve never had to go through any health concerns before. I am at a stage though when I’m getting closer and closer to considering becoming a mum and pregnancy, childbirth and not knowing what my body will feel like and whether it will stay healthy is really scary. I loved reading that you’ve been getting to know your “new” body again and it makes me hopeful too ❤️
Thank you for the kind words! ❤️ I can definitely see how pregnancy would be another experience with lots of changes where you'd have to get acquainted with your body again. Maybe if you find practices that help you connect with your body before baby, that will make it a bit easier to reconnect throughout the changes.
Wow, I was riveted. This is such an important conversation. You learned at a young age to connect with your body not once, but twice. At 56, my body feels more fragile. I’m less concerned with how I look since I had nerve compression from a badly herniated disc. Losing my mobility was a huge wake up call. I had disc surgery in July and I’m still doing PT every week. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been, and I want to keep it that way. You are a warrior. I would love to hear more of your story.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words. ❤️ It's so easy to take our bodies for granted until a medical event happens that changes our perspective. It sounds like you've come a long way post-surgery with a lot of hard work and the help of PT and I'm sure other things as well. I'm rooting for you! So glad we connected. 😊
Cassandra this post did resonate. You share unique insight on the process which I have not thought about before. V brave. As someone with chronic conditions you do get tuned into little signs your body gives you.
Exactly, you do notice little signs! There can be a lot of noise in the healthcare system, but if we learn to tune into our body, it can help us navigate that.
